Sometimes Windows 7 Phone Annoys Me.

I bought a Samsung Focus Windows 7 Phone without contract from BestBuy. Had to unlock the phone from AT&T network. It took a while to get it done using FastGSM.com service...
  • First, I accidentally used the PayPal eCheck...took almost a week to clear the payment on both sides.
  • Secondly, the FastGSM's OMAP unlock software was detected by McAfee as Trojan. Had to disable the antivirus even to download let alone installing it. Things got straighten after a week of frustration.
Pardon me for being addicted to the usability of Apple's mobile product lines (iPod touch/iPad), I expected more from Microsoft in this department as they are the pioneers  of intuitive UI designs of the PC products. Ironically, there are more things for MS to learn from Apple when it comes to mobile device usability.

As you can find enough feature comparisions on the web; I just thought of point out few  small things that matters to a daily Windows Phone user!

Is it the OS (WP7)?Its a shame that Windows Phone OS doesn't display Unicode characters...especially when MS claim to have native support for Facebook, and people typing commonly in non-English language. They are rendered as boxes. I expected the OS to have UNICODE font for Simplified character sets like Tamil.
And I'm still waiting for the NoDo OS update to add copy & paste capability.

Is it the phone hardware?Samsung Focus Touch screen is too sensitive, scrolling always click something. sliding and selecting gestures are not distinguished properly by the device. Same goes to the keypad. Samsung Focus requires typing in the air kind of very light touch; otherwise it will randomly type something else. And very precise pointing is needed; hard to do this delicate act while you are standing or walking. There was a high miss-rate on typing in comparison. Took me a while to get used to it for a certain extend.
If I used the phone continuously, I can feel the heat emitted by the phone on my palm.
The phone get stuck when the phone is charging. Try exit the screensaver while you are charging.

Is it the App design? Some standard apps requires you to use the hard key on the phone to exit out of a screens to go back to the app home. For example, email, contacts etc. Missing a home navigation button there. Simple thing, but annoys the hell out of me. Especially when you are using it in the dark.
The message titles shown in most apps are having large font...nice...but you don't have a way to scroll them to see the rest of the cut-off due to the screen size.

Must haves on next version of Hardware...- Front facing camera
- Mobile hotspot

This is my first impression (complain) on the phone just because I had high expectations...
